In the high-end detailing world, aerosol tyre foams often carry a stigma. They are traditionally viewed as cheap, forecourt-station products that leave a patchy, greasy mess, spin off onto your paintwork the second you drive away, and turn your tyres brown after a week.
Koch-Chemie Kcu-Reifenschaum is the exception to the rule. It takes the sheer convenience of a "spray-and-walk-away" aerosol and backs it up with genuine, premium German chemistry. Rather than just blasting a heavy layer of cheap silicone over the top of road grime, this is a true two-in-one product engineered to chemically clean the rubber *before* it dresses it.
When you spray Kcu-Reifenschaum onto the sidewall, the active surfactant foam rapidly expands. These microscopic foam lamellas encapsulate light brake dust, road film, and browning, physically lifting the dirt away from the rubber surface. As the foam naturally breaks down and evaporates, it deposits a high-grade blend of conditioning polymers evenly across the tyre. Because the dirt has been suspended and the rubber conditioned, it cures to a flawless, deep-black, semi-gloss finish completely eliminating the patchy look you get from inferior foams.
Beyond aesthetics, those conditioning polymers actively feed the rubber, preventing it from drying out, cracking, or fading under harsh UV light. It is the ultimate time-saving cheat code for valeters who need a flawless finish without spending ten minutes scrubbing sidewalls and ruining expensive applicator sponges.
Why Kcu-Reifenschaum elevates the tyre foam category
- Active Cleaning Power: Expanding foam lifts light dirt and browning away from the rubber, acting as a cleaner and dressing in a single step.
- Self-Levelling Finish: Evaporates cleanly to leave a uniform, rich black sheen without needing to be manually wiped or levelled with a sponge.
- Zero Sling Formulation: Formulated to bond quickly to the sidewall, meaning it won't instantly spin off onto your freshly cleaned paintwork at motorway speeds.
- Perfect for Textured Tyres: Liquid dressings struggle to get into the intricate sidewall lettering of modern SUV and off-road tyres. The expanding foam easily reaches every crevice.

How to Use Koch-Chemie Tyre Foam
- Assess the Tyre: If the tyre is just lightly dusty, you can use this as a true spray-and-leave product. If it is heavily soiled or brown, rinse the worst of it off with a pressure washer first.
- Shake Well: Vigorously shake the aerosol can to activate the foaming agents and mix the polymers.
- Apply the Foam: Hold the can approximately 20cm away from the tyre. Spray an even, continuous ring of foam around the entire sidewall.
- The Crucial Step (Light vs Heavy Dirt):
For light dust: Walk away. As the foam breaks down, it will carry the light dirt down the sidewall and drip onto the floor, curing in 5 to 10 minutes.
For dirty tyres: Let the foam dwell for 2 minutes as it pulls the brown grime out of the rubber, then take an old microfibre cloth and aggressively wipe the tyre clean. Apply a very fast, light second coat of foam and leave it to cure.
- Wipe Alloys: If you accidentally over-sprayed foam onto your alloy wheels or brake discs, wipe it away immediately with a clean cloth.

Pro Tip: The biggest mistake people make with tyre foam is trusting it to magically evaporate heavy dirt. It can't. The foam lifts the grime to the surface, but if you don't wipe that heavy dirt away, it will simply dry back onto the tyre and ruin the finish. Treat the first coat as a cleaner (and wipe it), and the second light coat as your actual dressing.
Note: Never apply to the tread block of the tyre, and absolutely never use on motorcycle or bicycle tyres, as it will cause a dangerous loss of grip.
