Wheel Cleaner
Wheel cleaning is one of the most essential steps for detailing your car, dirty wheels will really spoil the appearance of your car and can lead to damaging your alloy wheels. We've sourced a range of dedicated wheel cleaners designed to loosen dirt and grime safely and effectively. There are three main types of wheel cleaner on the market Acid Wheel Cleaners, Alkaline Wheel Cleaners & ph Neutral fallout removers. Traditionally wheel cleaners would be quite a strong acid, designed got quickly remove bonded brake dust and general road grime. This does work extremely well however the risk with this is it can damage the finish of your alloys. Acid based wheel cleaners definitely have their place and on the most stubborn brake dust built up it can be the fastest way to fully clean the alloys. Some of the most popular acid based wheel cleaners include the ever popular Meguiars Wheel Brightener & Meguiars Hot Rims.
Alkaline wheel cleaners work in a similar way to acid based ones, and are often the most cost effective wheel cleaners as like the acid based ones can be diluted to suit the application. Probably our best selling alkaline wheel cleaner is the Valet Pro Bilberry thanks to its good value and how well it dilutes.
The final type of wheel cleaner which has evolved the most over recent years is the 'bleeding' type of wheel cleaner. These bleeding wheel cleaners react with the iron fallout from brake discs and pads on the alloys, dissolving the ferrous elements, with the chemical reaction turning wheels bright red. Bleeding wheel cleaners are pH neutral and therefore very safe to use, they are highly effective at removing brake dust and are fun to use, however they do tend to be more expensive and unlike acid & alkaline wheel cleaners they can't be diluted. CarPro Iron X was one of the fist iron fallout removers to be sold in the UK and it's success has spawned a many alternatives and it would be uncommon to see a car care manufacturer without one in its line up of products. This segment of the market is ever evolving and now higher end wheel cleaners include both iron fallout remover as well as a dedicated degreaser such as found in the new Gyeon Iron Wheel Cleaner.
Wheel cleaning is an essential step not only to enhance the appearance of your wheels but helps prevent build up of corrosive brake dust on the surface of your alloys. The longer you leave it between cleaning wheels the harder it will be next time.
