Gtechniq MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Cloth – Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? You’re in the right place! Whether you’re a first-time user or a seasoned pro, our Frequently Asked Questions section is designed to be your go-to resource for quick answers, troubleshooting tips, and clever tricks to unlock the full potential of the Gtechniq MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Cloth.

The Gtechniq MF1 ZeroR is a premium 300gsm microfibre cloth designed for safe residue removal and general cleaning tasks. It's particularly effective for delicate surfaces thanks to its edgeless design and low-lint construction. You can use it for everything from general car cleaning to removing coating residues without scratching or leaving marks on paintwork.

The MF1 ZeroR measures 40x40cm and weighs 300gsm, making it substantial enough for effective cleaning while remaining manageable. It's constructed from 70% polyester and 30% polyamide with ultra-fine 0.13 denier microfibres. The edgeless design eliminates the risk of scratching, while the short pile and high polyamide content make it highly absorbent and perfect for residue removal on sensitive surfaces.

This cloth is compatible with all automotive surfaces including paintwork, glass, plastic trim, and interior surfaces. The high polyamide content and edgeless design make it particularly suitable for delicate surfaces where scratching is a concern. Gtechniq has designed it specifically for use with their coating products, but it works excellently with any detailing products that require gentle residue removal.

For best results, use the cloth slightly damp for general cleaning or dry for buffing and residue removal. Work in straight lines rather than circular motions to avoid potential marring. When removing product residues, use light pressure and allow the microfibre to do the work.

Proper care is essential for maintaining performance. Always wash the cloth separately from other fabrics to avoid lint contamination. Use a 30°C wash with half the normal amount of bleach-free detergent, and never use fabric softener or conditioner as these will reduce absorbency. Air dry or machine dry at low temperature. Store in a clean, dry place away from dust and contaminants to maintain its effectiveness.

The most common mistake is using fabric softener when washing, which coats the fibres and reduces their cleaning ability. Another error is mixing microfibre cloths with cotton towels during washing, which causes lint transfer. Avoid using the cloth on heavily soiled surfaces without pre-cleaning, as this can embed dirt into the fibres. Finally, don't use excessive pressure - let the microfibre structure do the work to prevent potential surface damage.
