Auto-Foam is designed to eliminate that risk by safely removing contamination before any physical contact is made.
Developed through extensive in-house research, Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam is a premium, water-based pre-wash snow foam shampoo that loosens, penetrates, and lifts traffic film and grime ahead of contact washing. Used with any pressure washer foam lance, it is typically applied at a Panel Impact Ratio (PIR) of around 4%, where it clings to panels for approximately five minutes to maximise cleaning performance.
Rather than relying on cosmetic, high-foam visuals, Auto-Foam focuses on functional wetting and soil penetration. The non-caustic, biodegradable formulation is tough on dirt yet completely safe for clear coats, paint binders, trims, and regular use. During the dwell period, contamination is encapsulated and safely removed during rinsing, significantly reducing the risk of swirl marks and wash-induced marring — allowing you to move safely into the contact wash stage.
Once rinsed, paintwork is left clean, evenly presented, and perfectly prepared for shampooing, protection, or further detailing stages such as applying a wax, sealant, or ceramic coating.

Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is a dedicated snow foam, therefore the optimal application method is with a snow foam lance. Bit Hamber recommends a dilution ratio based on 'a panel impact ratio' of 1:20 to 1:100. Like most snow foams there are many variables to getting the perfect mix from your water pressure down to flow rates of your pressure washer. We therefore recommend using filling the bottle of your snow foam lance with about an inch of Auto Foam and then topping the rest with water. You can make a slightly stronger mix on badly soiled paint.
Spray onto the paint and allow a good few minutes for Auto Foam to dwell on the surface. By allowing Bilt Hamber Auto Foam to dwell on the surface of the paint allows the foam to get to work, softening and encapsulation dirt and grime. After about 5 minutes jet washing off will remove much of the dirt on the surface of the paint.
Typically snow foams remove about 90% of the contamination, thus making a final wash much easier, but critically removing most of the grit and dirt that could potentially scratch the surface of your paint.
