I have been a lucky boy this year so far, working on some of my all time favourite cars. This week has been no exception. Took a call in mid August about the following car. After inspection it was decided on a 2 stage mild correction detail with wax as LSP, and a deep clean on the leather interior

The car in question is this 1996 F355 Spider, the car has covered a mere 21000 miles in the last 15 years and has been exceptionally cared for in that time. The owner wanted some life put back into the paint and the interior deep cleaned.

Onto the detail.

Products
AG Shampoo Conditioner
AS Smart Wheels
AS G101
Menz 203s and 85RE
IPA
Poorboys Wheels Sealant
Brilliant Metal Polish
AG Fabric Hood Kit
Zaino Z-9 and Z-10 Leather Twins
Dodo Clearly Menthol Glass Cleaner

Process
Not the usual wash method today, lack of facilities, wheels cleaned with various brushes etc and then just a quick pre wash with AS G101, before a wash using 2BM and the shampoo. At this point the roof was cleaned and while still damp the AG Protector was applied. All nooks and crannies were agitated with the detailing brushes while the G101 was dwelling.

No contamination was present on the car whatsoever when the clay was tried on it, as the paint was so clean I cracked on with the drying and then into the barn for inspection.

Defects, nothing major on the car, some light wash marring and some marks where the cover had been touching on all 4 corners.

Paint readings were healthy, ranging from,

The polishing was done in 2 stages using 3M Yellow and Blue Pads, this was then followed by a rinse and an IPA wipedown. As I had been expecting the results were more than adequate for the 2 stage correction, with the paint correcting nicely with only 1 pass in most areas, only some of the deeper marks needing a 2nd pass.

Interior was given a vac using Henry, then I cracked into the leather. No real drama just some build up of Dye Transfer and some general dirt and grime, I really love the Zaino leather twins, nice matt finish and great smell. At this point all interior surfaces were dusted and cleaned as well, using mild APC mix.

LSP today was Zymol Glasur, this was applied in 2 coats approx. 2 hours apart, in between coats I polished all the exterior chrome and badgework using the metal polish. Wheels were also sealed at this point. I didn’t dress the tyres on this one, whatever had been put on them by the supplying dealer simply needed a buff with a MF to get them shiny again.

Engine bay was given a light tickle with the APC and then dressed using AG Vinyl and Rubber.

The red is really hard to capture on the camera, I don’t feel the pictures do the car, and the redness of the paint justice, but the owner was happy, it was being tucked away under its cover again as I left.

This was a truly stunning car to work on, one of my favourites, I hope I did it justice. Thanks to Shaun the owner for the opportunity to work on such a special car. As ever all comments are appreciated.

Beautiful...sheer bloody beautiful :D

For me, the 355 is one of the all time great looking cars. Sleek like a shark, open top, driving down a sunny coastal road. :D :D :D

Awesome car David and now looking as it should do!

Glasur is a fantastic wax and certainly worthy of that finish and car. Thanks for posting another great write up.

Beautiful car, now made to look even more so by you David!

If the afters don't do it justice, then the customer must have been gobsmacked when they came back.

Thanks for sharing it

Chris
